NSW State Titles 2006 Mixed 640Kg Champions

As Christmas rapidly approaches allow me to congratulate you all on your efforts over the past year.
With a bit more effort (and a bit more rope time) in the new year I am confident our team can achieve our first
elusive gold medal at the National Championships.

Our trip to Woolgoolga, NSW on Sat 9 Dec 06 for the NSW Titles was quite eventful. The Woolgoolga
Tug of War team and their community were very hospitable and obviously had done a lot of work to organise a
successful competition. The ground was hard and so were the opposition teams, it seemed every contest
the Bulldogs were in turned into a three ender. We did show some much needed character to win all those
three enders evenwhen we lost the toss. The wash up of the NSW Titles, if memory serves (bearing in
mind I had a few beers on the way home), was as follows:

1. Mens 600kg = 1 Dumaresq (gold to Brendan), 2 Tenterfield, 3 Woolgoolga
2. Mens 640kg = 1 Dumaresq, 2 Tenterfield, 3 Maitland
3. Mens 680kg = 1 Woolgoolga, 2 Dumaresq, 3 Tenterfield
4. Mens 720kg = 1 Woolgoolga, 2 Brisbane Bulldogs, 3 Maitland
5. Mixed 640kg = 1 Brisbane Bulldogs, 2 Glen Innes
6. Catchweight = 1 Woolgoolga, 2. Brisbane Bulldogs, 3 Maitland
7. NSW vs Qld = 1 NSW, 2 Qld

We came home laden with trophies, any breakages?

Have a look at our website www.tug-o-war.asn.au , Paul has updated the site and put on a photo from
the Northside Chronicle starring Adam, Steve, Brendan, Paul and Greg (click on 'in the news'). Everyone
should have a photo on the website if you have been missed let us know.

Another thing I learnt on the weekend was don't leave Brendan \"Speakers\" Chapman alone with public
address equipment. We virtually had to drag him away from the kiosk where the (PA system was) for
weigh-ins and pulls. Even though Brendan claimed he had multiple life threatening injuries during the day,
he perked up on the way home regaling us with endless chatter about 'mixing decks'? etc.
He also constantly showed any surrounding traffic our major trophies and got polite signals of
support (they thought he was insane).

Next training session is at Brighton on Sat 16 Dec 2006 starting at 1.30pm, followed by BBQ and showing of
the Woolgoolga DVD.

I have free Tug of War bumper/window stickers for anyone who would like them - would look great on the back
of the Merc. See me!

We should still all be enthusiastically recruiting. Recruits of the male variety should be fit and of medium to
small build (we have enough centurions). Women just need to be reasonably fit - size really doesn't matter.
